چکیده

MOOCs are particular learning environments due to their massiveness and openness. Creating learning environments for masses is extremely complex and raises a lot of design questions because of the large variety of participants in terms of background, skills, and experiences. This paper aims to give an overview of the current trends in MOOCs design and to present a draft of the conceptual categories of an alternative design framework for MOOCs based on a heutagogical approach. A heutagogy-based MOOC can be described as a MOOC where the emphasis is on acquiring knowledge on the own learning through the metacognitive work of critical reflection (doubleand triple-loop learning) for the sake of cognitive and behavioural change; and on developing self-determined learning skills for successful learning in an open, barely structured, and self-organized environment.

Towards 'MOOCs with a Purpose': Crowdsourcing and Analysing Scalable Design Solutions with MOOC Learners

In this study we explored the use of a research assignment on instructional design of MOOCs by MOOC students. The use of a research assignment was expected to be of interest for both students and the designer. The assignment is based on a framework to analyse MOOC designs with the objective to identify best practices. It builds on four principles: constructive alignment, task complexity, intera...

Welcome to the moocspace: a proposed theory and taxonomy for massive open online courses

This paper describes a theoretical framework and feature taxonomy for MOOCs, with the goal of developing a shared language for researchers and designers. The theoretical framework characterizes MOOC design goals in terms of stances towards knowledge, the learner, and assessment practices, taking as a starting point the affordances of the Web and digital learning environments. The taxonomy encom...

Towards a MOOC Design Model based on Flipped Learning and Patterns: A Case on Introductory Courses

The widespread discussion about the potential of MOOCs has stimulated universities and enterprises to develop courses using private MOOC providers and mainly open MOOC platforms on their own technological infrastructure. Nevertheless, the design of attractive courses for large scale e-learning and practical guidelines to design for learning in MOOCs remain a challenge. In this paper, firstly, w...
